Donovan succeed Frazier as Hawaii athletic director
Hawaii Bowl executive director Jim Donovan is the University of Hawaii at Manoa's new athletic director.
The school's Board of Regents approved his appointment to a five-year term.
Donovan spent 20 years at Manoa as a football player, graduate assistant and associate athletics director.
He's headed the Hawaii Bowl since 2002.
Donovan succeeds Herman Frazier, who was fired one day after football coach June Jones announced he was leaving for Southern Methodist University.
Jones had just led the Warriors to a 12-1 season and an appearance at the Sugar Bowl.
Hawaii defensive coordinator Greg McMackin replaced Jones.
